Cayenne Old Folk Remedies

Muscle Rub
1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger, pinch each of cayenne pepper and hot mustard powder
Mix the ingredients and let stand for 15 minutes. Massage into muscles, avoiding your eyes and any sensitive or broken skin.

Red Pepper Remedy for Rheumatism
Red pepper, spirits
Red pepper, infused in spirits, makes an excellent wash for rheumatism.

BRUISES
Honey and Cayenne Pepper Remedy
Honey, cayenne pepper
Smear honey all over a cloth and sprinkle with cayenne pepper. This will make a bruise heal fast and melt the pain.

CELLULITE
Coffee Treatment
Warm coffee grounds
Simply rub warm coffee grounds onto cellulite-prone areas. Put a newspaper or towel underneath you to catch the grounds.
Cayenne/Cinnamon Remedy for Cold Feet
Cayenne pepper or cinnamon
Sprinkle cayenne pepper or cinnamon into your socks before putting them on. Both feet and socks will turn red. But the feet will feel warm. You may want to mix the cayenne/cinnamon with a couple of grated garlic cloves.
Mustard and Lard Poultice
Lard, dry mustard powder, flour, cayenne pepper
Treat a sorely congested chest with lard, dry mustard and cayenne pepper mixed to a paste and spread between two pieces of cloth that have been sprinkled with flour. Apply to chest for instant relief of congestion. Be careful how long you leave it on or the skin will blister.
Red Pepper and Cornstarch for Cold Feet and Hands
One tablespoon ground red pepper, one tablespoon cornstarch
Mix the red pepper with the cornstarch and sprinkle in your socks or gloves. The red pepper increases circulation while the cornstarch prevents dampness.

Apply just a few grains of cayenne pepper to the affected tooth and gum. At first it will add to the pain, but within seconds, the toothache should stop.

Sprinkle some cayenne into your socks or rub it directly on the soles of your aching feet.
Ginger Cayenne Foot Scrub
1/4 cup each sugar and vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon powdered ginger and 1/4 teaspoon orange extract and 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Massage mixture onto feet. Rinse well.
GOUT
Cayenne and Vinegar Remedy
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper, 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup water
Boil 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper in 1 cup vinegar, diluted with 1 cup water. Dab onto the painful joint as needed.
HAIR LOSS PREVENTION AND TREATMENT
Cayenne Pepper Tonic
4 oz red cayenne pepper, 1 pint 100-proof vodka
Mix red cayenne pepper with vodka. Let sit for two weeks, shaking the mixture several times. Then strain until the liquid is pepper free. You can use a nylon stocking for straining. THIS IS NOT FOR DRINKING. Each day, apply this mixture to thinning or bald areas of the scalp. Within 5-6 weeks hair should begin to grow unless it is hereditary baldness.

Apply the cayenne as a plaster to treat shingles.
